General - Hasso-Eckard von Manteuffel

Von Manteuffel was on the staff of the Inspectorate of Panzer troops before the war. He was promoted Colonel in November 1940 and in 1943 commanded a division in Tunisia. At the end of that year he took over the 7th Panzer Division and soon afterwards in February 1944 was appointed as commander of the `Großdeutschland' Panzer Division. He was commander of the Fifth Panzer Army in 1944 and in March 1945 commander of the Third Panzer Army in East Prussia. General von Manteuffel was awarded the Oakleaf Cluster with Swords and Diamonds to the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
